i used to come up to this lake every year until my aunt sold it... i could fish off the dock and drop a plain hook and catch rock bass.. also some 8-10 inch bluegills. this lake can produce some bigger fish than u can imagine. i loved to catch the smallmouth on this lake. i once caught a 8 pounder out of here!! this lake was an amazing lake to fish at. the fish werent used to anything aritficial when i came up here. so we used live bait and caught some monsters out of here!! usually released the 15-18 inchers but kept anything bigger. which once my cousin caught a 30 inch largemouth out of here no lie!!! great lake to fish on though.. good luck to all!!!

Basically gin clear water with sandy/rocky bottom. Tough to fish muskies here, but if you get one, it's usually a trophy. Slightly less than average muskies per acre, but they more than make up for it in pounds! DNR has studied muskies on this lake and determined they are of a rare trophy strain (much like that of Trout Lake). DNR has fyke netted a 50+ pound female. Muskies stay deep until dusk when you can get them off one of the rock bars or many shoreline dropoffs. There is also deep grass bed off the northern island that has produced nice fish. A couple of scattered rock humps (can be tough to find) often hold monster fish. Smallmouth also run HUGE here, 4-5 pounders are common, several 6 pounders are caught every year. They are very fat from eating rusty crayfish that came through an inlet from Boulder Lake. Can be tough to catch because of huge forage base. Tend to hang around rocks bars and a few man-made cribs. Walleyes are stunted from years of over-stocking dating back to the 30's! A major rehab project is underway but will probably another 7-10 years until walleye fishing is considered excellent again. Up until the mid-80's this was once an exceptional walleye lake for size and numbers. Jumbo perch are also present, 10-15" fish are caught occasionally.
