Lake Geneva

Finally kicked off the year on Geneva. Been fishing a lot at another lake. Great start. Took my buddy out to pre-fish for a few clients Im taking out this month. We did good. Saw lots of groups on the sonar. Hooked plenty. Smallmouth stole the show. Only one short eye. Of course rock bass. Water temp was 65°. Marked most fish in 17-22’. Caught most fish at right about 14’. Very happy with today’s results. Tight Linez Boyz. 

Started off last night (Fri) shallow and couldn't shake the rockies... Moved out to 20-30ft structure and was marking good groups. 
Didn't seem to like anything with a retrieve... So I started putting dropshot and leech right next to them, and they seemed to bite just to get it out of there faces, just needed to set the hook...
Happy to see them start to show on off-shore structure.

With the bluegill, rock bass and pumpkin seeds on beds and the bass for most part done the bite is incredible drop shot plastic, gulp or live bait slow drag in 6 to 25ft and where you don’t find slime you will find something and then repeat keep moving till you find what you want. The wind has made it fun to set up on spots but hay life ain’t supposed to be easy. Be safe set reel get the net.

Try fishing the weed lines, points and depth changes. Crank baits, jigs and a live sucker or minnows are great choices. Please be careful in targeting muskies as the water gets warm. They have a hard time recovering from being hooked, when the water temp is up. 

My favorite one was the guy who was taking a half a dozen kids all under all under six years old fishing and wanted to know what the water temperature was.

For "predatory" fish you could try geneva bay, Williams bay, cisco bay, buttons bay, the flats, the narrows, the north shore, the south shore, maytag point, cedar point, conference point, black point, out from the golf course, the no go area, down by the yacht club, out from fontana.......

What are the best fishing spots forpredatory fish, not panfish.

 on the water at 6:30 off at 1 PM. First three hours put six largemouth and three Smallies in the boat throwing poppers. Hands down my favorite way to bass fish. Drop shot 4 inch rubber worm from 20 feet to 12 feet and got a Baker’s dozen of pumpkin seeds between 8 1/2 and 9 1/4 inches.

Got out last weekend now that the kids are out of school caught plenty of rock bass to keep em busy
