Well guys, I’m back from the boundary waters - came home to a basement full of water. Sounds like lots of rain/high flow and debris out on the river. Going to try to get out today or tomorrow and see what I can find.
In other news, man was the BWCA a blast. We hiked/portaged/canoed about 10mi in, and camped for a week and man we caught more walleye than we knew what to do with. Tons of great eater sized fish 16-20”. Lots of pike and smallies in the mix too. Will definitely be planning a yearly trip up there.
Anyway, see yall out on the river - good luck out there!

Spent Sunday morning trolling. First hour was dodging floating weeds. Finally figured a good pass and did ok. Got 15-20 eyes and saugers but all but one was short. 3 bonus crappie as well. Kept speed a little slow in the 2.2 range mix of shad raps and flicker shads. No hits on shad raps. Daughter had hot hand her side of boat kicked my butt. A funky parrot color was the ticket early. Of course only one bait that color in the boat. I made a comeback later as sun got brighter and color preference changes. We were off the water by 10:30. The wind was getting wicked. Lots of debris floating in bad spots. Ride back sucked.
Well went out in the rain this morning caught a few small gills and one perch went to sauk for lunch and stopped at the dam was there for a few hours caught 4keeper gills and a perch and a softshell turtle the turtle went back. Went back to the hwy V bridge caught a few more small gills. Decided to tie on a inline spinner on my light action with 6lb test and came up with a shorty tried for more but no luck
Chase86,
Welcome aboard Lake- Link ,
Whalens Grade was always a good spot for me to fish from shore . In the early spring the Northerns used to spawn in the backside of the roadway land bridge. Facing the main lake off the Grade was always good for a mixed bag of Catfish, crappie, or Sheepshead , depending on time of year !
Years ago i used to fish off the rocks under the Okee Bridge . This time of year you can catch White Bass, Crappie, & sometimes Walleye. There is a current thru there, and is a fish highway back to the smaller Okee Bay off the main lake .
Good Luck and be sure to post a report how you do ! <((((< <((((< <(((<

Fished last three days. about 6 hours each day south of Tipperary Point toward Fitz's. Out of the main river as flow is very high with a lot of wood and weeds. Trolled crawler rigs. Each day caught about 10 walleye, mostly 14 and under. Three in the slot 16-17. Realease all. Seems I did better in deeper water - 10 - 15 foot. Sheephead population is great. Did pick up two perch about 8 inchs - it would be great if we were able get a fishable perch population. Also picked up several white bass - all small under 8 inches. Out tomorrow- starting 10-15 feet. Maybe water coming down fish move shallower??? Also Nice weather couple days things may change. Also tried shad raps - in deeper water - only got a sheephead.
