For additional information on lakes in south central Iowa call the Rathbun Fish Hatchery at 641-647-2406.

The current lake level is 904.04 msl; recreation pool is 904 msl. The surface water temperature is 57° F. The Dedication Site boat ramp has reopened but use caution as the lake is still close to recreation pool. Docks have been installed at Island View and Bridgeview. Lake Rathbun has zebra mussels so make sure to properly drain, clean and dry equipment before transporting to another waterbody.

Walleye - Slow: All walleye less than 15" must be immediately released unharmed.

Black Crappie - Slow: Some anglers have been catching crappie with jigs around submerged cedar tree piles and docks.

The current lake level is 903.26 msl; recreation pool is 904 msl. The surface water temperature is 53° F. The Dedication Site boat ramp has reopened but use caution as the lake is still below recreation pool. Docks have been installed at Island View and Bridgeview. Lake Rathbun has zebra mussels so make sure to properly drain, clean and dry equipment before transporting to another waterbody.

Walleye - Slow: All walleye less than 15" must be immediately released unharmed.

The Dedication Site boat ramp has reopened but use caution as the lake is still below recreation pool. Docks have been installed at Island View and Bridgeview. Very little fishing activity has been occurring. Lake Rathbun has zebra mussels so make sure to properly drain, clean and dry equipment before transporting to another waterbody.

Channel Catfish - Fair: Try cutbait on the windblown shorelines.

Walleye - No Report: All walleye less than 15" must be immediately released unharmed.

The lakes in south central Iowa have quite a bit of slush and water on top of the ice. Use caution if heading out on the ice. Ice thicknesses vary so check thickness often. With this warmer weather and runoff, look for the ice along the shoreline to start to get soft. For information on lakes in south central Iowa call the Rathbun Fish Hatchery at 641-647-2406.

Check ice thickness often if heading out. Anglers have been fishing in South Fork, Buck Creek and out from Honey Creek State Park. Shoreline ice is melting creating open water areas.
