Lake Wister State Park

Lake Wister State Park is a fantastic RV camping destination in southeast Oklahoma, roughly three miles from Wister in Le Flore County. The park offers a getaway to the Ouachita National Forest, a 1,784,457-acre state forest existing between Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma extending several recreational activities in the form of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

Camping is at its delightful best near the 7,300 surface acres of the beautiful Lake Wister. Five lakeside campgrounds including both RV and tent campgrounds as well as a group campground boast glorious lakeside views. Both modern (full-hookup) and semi-modern (electric and water hookup) sites are available on a first-come, first-served. On-site amenities include comfort stations, dump stations, and showers. Camping is only available March through November. For overnighters preferring a roof over their head, Lake Wister's luxuriously equipped cabins are the most excellent option.

When you bring your camper to the park, you will want to spend some quality time escaping from your daily routine and non-stop urban mess. Luckily, Lake Wister State Park has everything you need to spend the vacation you deserve. You can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, boating, water skiing, or splashing in a spray park. Wildlife enthusiasts will love the opportunity to indulge in activities like hunting, fishing, or wildlife viewing. Nature seekers will find a great sense of calm in the scenic outdoors of the park and Lake Wister.

Transportation

Driving

Lake Wister State Park is located off of US Highway 270 on a less than a ten-minute drive from the town of Wister in Le Flore County, Oklahoma. The park lies in southeastern Oklahoma and sits close to Arkansas within a few hours' drive. The park is easy to access in a car or RV. There are no strict driving rules for RVs inside the park. You can freely drive your rig or motorhome on the park roads. The only problem is the narrow, winding nature of roads. The park roads may be too tight for two or more large RVs to pass at the same time. Though there are no RV limits for the campsites, it is better to bring small trailers or rigs to avoid traffic issues. No cars or RVs are allowed on any hiking trail. Sufficient parking is available. Do not park your vehicle in a campsite not assigned to you.
