What happened to all the Snakes in WI? I used to see tons of them in Waukesha county, I go in some swampy areas fishing and or catching frogs, crawfish, clams, never seen a snake. Used to see Water Snakes on Ashippun

Saw this little guy while watering flowers.
When he slid away in the short grass he 100% vanished. I knew exactly where he was, yet couldn't see him.

After church, I went on a brief walk. Saw 11 snakes and 3 skinks. This 3 ft fox snake was so docile. It gave me the brief tail buzz in the dry grass and then let me pick it up with no issue. The belly pattern is so characteristic of the rat snake family (fox, gray rat, corn snake, etc, etc).
NP_G, that dark Timber is particularly pretty, especially with the contrast of the mid-line stripe. Very nice.

This northern water snake professionally identified by Suspended Musky. The resident snakeoligist was laying on the bottom for over 10 minutes just laying there. I knew there was a snake in area because there were patterns for 20 to 30 feet on the bottom of the sand.
Very nice Fowler. I would like a porch fox snake.
I got out very briefly today and saw 8 fox snakes and a few other species. Pics of 3 of the 8. The first pic is of a 1.5 yr old juvenile, about 18 inches long. Cute 'lil fella. The other 2 pics are of sizable adults.
We need NPike_Guy to post a few pics of the interesting SW Wisco snakes; i.e. Timber Rattlesnake, Blue Racer, Gray Rat Snake (fox snake cousin), or a Bullsnake.
